    Maryland travels to face Duke in Atlantic Coast Conference play Wednesday (Feb. 28). Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. The game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
    • The Terps carry a mark of 22-7 (8-6 ACC) into the contest, while Duke is also 22-7 (8-6 ACC). The Terrapins enter Wednesday's game on a five-game winning streak while Duke has won its last four games after falling to Maryland at Comcast Center (72-60) February 11.
    • Maryland's five-game winning streak in the ACC is its first since the Terrapins finished the 2001-02 season with 12 consecutive league victories.
    • Maryland's victory over then fifth-ranked North Carolina gave the Terps their 17th win over a top five opponent under head coach Gary Williams. The victory over UNC gave the Terrapins at least one win over a top 10 team for the 11th straight season. It was Maryland's 14th win over a top 10 team in the last six years.
    • Wednesday's game marks the 161st meeting between Duke and Maryland. The Terps have won four of the last six meetings between the two schools. The Terrapins are looking to sweep the season series for the second time in three years after winning both meetings in 2005. Maryland has posted at least one victory over Duke in 11 of the past 13 seasons.
    • Maryland senior D.J. Strawberry leads the Terps with 15.1 points per game. He is 11th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring. Junior DeMarcus Nelson leads the Blue Devils with 14.1 points per game. He is 17th in the ACC in scoring while teammate Josh McRoberts is second in the league in rebounding (7.7 rpg).
    • Strawberry was named ACC Player of the Week for the second straight week. He averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists last week in wins over Florida State and North Carolina.
    • The Terps have recorded their 10th 20-win season under head coach Gary Williams. He has posted 16 20-win seasons for his career. The Terrapins have tallied at least 19 wins in each of the past 11 years and have averaged 22.8 wins the last 12 years.

    Maryland erased a 12-point deficit over the final 7:13 of the second half to down fifth-ranked North Carolina, 89-87, at Comcast Center Sunday evening. Trailing 77-65, the Terps used a 14-3 run to take the lead (81-80) on a Mike Jones jump shot with 2:13 to play. After both teams made a pair of free throws, the Terps took the lead for good on a D.J. Strawberry basket with 1:28 to play. Ekene Ibekwe and James Gist both knocked down key free throws in the final 1:11 to help secure the win.
    • Senior D.J. Strawberry scored a career-high 27 points in the victory. He scored 17 points in the second half, including Maryland's first three field goals of the second stanza.
    Mike Jones scored 18 points against North Carolina. After scoring just four points in the first half, Jones tallied 14 in the second half, including three straight shots to give the Terps their first lead of the game at 81-80.
    • Junior Bambale Osby came off the bench and scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds against UNC. Osby finished 3-of-4 from the field and knocked down 5-of-7 free throws against the Tar Heels.

    Maryland is ranked 24th in the latest Associated Press Poll, released February 26. The Terps are among the teams receiving votes in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, released February 26. The Terps made their season debut in both polls on November 20.
    • Maryland has appeared in the AP Top 25 a total of 349 times. The Terrapins have placed in the AP Top 25 at least once in each of the last 14 seasons.
    • The Terps have been ranked in the coaches poll 323 times. Maryland has placed in the coaches poll at least once in each of the last 14 seasons.
    • The Terrapins were ranked 12th in the February 26 Sagarin Ratings. Maryland has nine wins over teams ranked in the Sagarin Top 50. The Terps are 4-3 against teams ranked in the Sagarin Top 25.
    • Maryland is ranked 14th in the latest RPI Report. The Terps have 10 wins against teams ranked in the Top 100 of the RPI. Maryland has played the 10th toughest schedule in the country, according to the RPI.
    • The Terps were named Team of the Week by Andy Katz on February 26.
    • The Terps were named Team of the Week on November 20 by both Dick Vitale and Andy Katz.

    The Terps have made a renewed commitment to defense in 2006-07. Maryland has forced its opponents into an average of 17.4 turnovers per game this season.
    • The Terps lead the ACC and are ninth in the nation in field goal percentage defense (.390).
    • Maryland's opponents are shooting just 29 percent (166-of-569) from three-point range which leads the league.
    • The Terps are averaging 7.7 steals per game and have recorded 197 blocked shots through 29 games.
    • Maryland is tops in the ACC and fifth in the nation with 6.8 blocked shots per game.

    Maryland senior D.J. Strawberry has continued his strong all-around play as a senior. Strawberry is 11th in the ACC with a team-high 15.1 points per game.
    • The senior swingman is third in the conference with 2.10 steals per game and ranks seventh in assist to turnover ratio (1.78).
    • Strawberry's 18-point performance at NC State (Feb. 14) made him the 45th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Strawberry now has 1,060 points for his career. His 439 points this year is his highest single-season total.
    • After helping the Terps post wins at Florida State and North Carolina, Strawberry was named the ACC Player of the Week on February 26. It was the second consecutive week he earned the award. He averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last week and shot 63 percent (17 of 27) from the field. It was the third time this season he earned the weekly award.

    Maryland has displayed a balanced offensive attack this season. The Terps boast the second-highest scoring average in the league (79.9 ppg), and have five players averaging double figures.
    D.J. Strawberry leads the team with 15.1 points per game. James Gist is averaging 12.9 points per game, while Mike Jones is averaging 12.7 points per contest. Ekene Ibekwe is averaging 10.2 points. Freshman Greivis Vasquez is averaging 10.0 points per game.
    • Strawberry has led the team in scoring eleven times this season while Jones has been the high man on nine occasions. Ibekwe and Gist have led the Terps in the scoring column in four games this season.
    • Maryland has outscored its opponents by an average of 12.3 points per game this season. That is the second best scoring margin in the ACC behind North Carolina (19.7).

    Seniors Ekene Ibekwe, Mike Jones and D.J. Strawberry are among elite company at the University of Maryland:
    • With nine points at Florida State, Mike Jones became the 43rd Terrapin to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Jones has 1,081 points for his career.
    • Ibekwe scored nine points against North Carolina and now has 1,049 points as a Terrapin. With his 738 career rebounds, Ibekwe is became just the 21st Terrapin to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. With 217 blocks to his credit he is just the fourth Terp to tally 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 blocked shots, joining Lonny Baxter (1999-02), Terence Morris (1998-01) and Derrick Lewis (1985-88).
    • Ibekwe's 217 career blocked shots makes him just the 21st player in ACC history to reach the 200-blocks plateau.
    • Strawberry became the 45th player in school history to reach 1,000 points with an 18-point performance at NC State. He has 1,060 points for his career.

    Four Terrapins are rapidly climbing the school's all-time record book. Seniors D.J. Strawberry, Ekene Ibekwe, and Mike Jones have all made their mark in the Terrapin annals, along with junior James Gist:
    • Strawberry is fifth in school history with 194 career steals.
    • Ibekwe sits in fifth place on the school's all-time blocked shots list. The Carson, Calif., native has 217 career rejections at Maryland and has averaged 1.8 blocked shots per game.
    • With eight rebounds against North Carolina, Ibekwe moved into 12th place on the school's all-time rebounding list. The senior forward has 738 career rebounds.
    • Ibekwe has attempted 463 career free throws and ranks 13th all-time at Maryland.
    • Senior Mike Jones has distinguished himself as one of the best shooters in the ACC and has rapidly moved up the school's all-time three pointers list. Jones has totaled 187 three-point field goals, which is second on the school's all-time list. Jones has hoisted 466 shots from beyond the arc, which is the fourth highest total in school history.
    • Gist has totaled 143 blocked shots during his three seasons in College Park. He is eighth on the school's all-time list and has averaged 1.7 blocks per game.

    Freshman Greivis Vasquez has tallied 128 assists this season and is well on his way to recording one of the top assist totals among freshman point guards at Maryland. Vasquez is tied for fifth on the all-time freshman assists list, while Eric Hayes is eighth with 117.
    • Steve Blake (2000-03) owns the school record with 217 assists as a freshman in 2000.

    Maryland is in its 54th season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Terps were a charter member of the conference in 1953-54 after 30 years as a member of the Southern Conference.
    • The Terps are 387-376 (.507) all-time in ACC games.
    • Maryland is 243-141 (.631) in ACC home games.
    • Maryland is 145-235 (.381) in ACC away games.
    • Under Gary Williams, Maryland is 155-128 (.546) in ACC play.
