MONTREAL - Former Maryland men's soccer stars Chris Seitz and Robbie Rogers are currently starting for the United States at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Montreal which began June 30. The Americans forced a 1-1 draw against South Korea in its first match on Saturday and will face Poland later today which sits atop Group D after upsetting Brazil earlier this week. Seitz was named the Sierra Mist Man of the Match against South Korea after recording five saves.

The United States struck first against the South Koreans in the 16th minute when Freddy Adu assisted on Danny Szetala's goal. That was the Americans only shot on goal as South Korea dominated possession in the first half.

Seitz came up with his first big save of the match in the 25th minute when Chung Yong Lee got behind Tim Ward and found an open Young Sung Shim. Seitz fully extended to keep the South Koreans off the board. South Korea got on the board in the 38th minute with the equalizer when Shim spotted a wide open Young Rok Shin who went one-on-one with Seitz to tie the match.

The second half was much of the same as South Korea controlled the pace of the game, but led by Seitz, the American defense kept their opponent off the board to get the one point in its opener of the World Cup.

The Americans will face first-place Poland on July 3 at 5:00 p.m. Poland beat favored Brazil, 1-0, in its World Cup opener.
