POSITION VACANCY

 

POSITION TITLE:                Director, Intensive Learning Program - Olympic Sports / (Specialist)

 

DEPARTMENT:                    Intercollegiate Athletics

 

CATEGORY:                         Full-time, Exempt

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:           The Intensive Learning Program (ILP) Director will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support and Career Development (ASCDU).  This position will develop and implement programs and services designed to provide structured assistance to academically at-risk student-athletes in their current classes and to provide instruction and remediation in areas of academic skill and strategy weakness. Specific responsibilities include: developing and implementing programmatic and training initiatives for the tutorial program; assisting with the academic planning of student-athletes to increase retention; developing and implementing learning strategies for at-risk student-athletes; facilitating academic services for student-athletes with documented learning disabilities to provide appropriate accommodations; monitoring and reporting student-athlete academic progress; supervising a team (10-15) ILP mentors and/or interns; teach a 1 credit study skills course (EDCP 108K); and other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, Masters degree preferred, in Counseling, Secondary Education, Special Education, Learning Disabilities, or related field. Must have 3-5 years of teaching/counseling experience at the secondary level, post-secondary preferred.  The ideal candidate will have teaching/counseling experience in learning disabilities or related experience at the secondary level or higher; demonstrated success in developing and teaching college learning and study skills to at-risk students, preferably student-athletes; developing program policies; and supervisory experience. Working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and regulations, along with American with Disability Act (ADA) compliance preferred.  This individual must possess strong communication skills to develop and maintain effective interaction with a diverse population.  Must be available to work non-traditional hours, including frequent evenings and occasional weekends

 

SALARY:        Commensurate with experience.
