UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University which is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and a beautiful campus located 8 miles north of the nation's capital and 30 miles south of Baltimore. The men's / women's swimming and diving teams compete in the premier collegiate athletic aquatic facility in the country, which hosts international and national championships such as the World Cup Swimming Championship, USA Swimming National Championship, and Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Head Coach for Men's and Women's Swimming with the organization, development and implementation of a nationally competitive, Division I intercollegiate swimming program. Specific duties include: identifying and coordinating recruiting of upper level, Division I student-athletes, and coaching; assisting with scheduling practices and meets; Hy-Tek team & meet manager; arranging team travel; administration of team budgets; monitoring academic progress of student-athlete; participating in fund raising and public relations activities; and other responsibilities as assigned by the head coach. Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni and the general public. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes are essential requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Two to five years coaching experience required, preferably at the Division I collegiate level. U.S. Swimming Coach's certification, CPR, First Aid certifications preferred. Strong communication, organizational, administrative and computer skills.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
