  • Senior guard Greivis Vasquez, the ACC Player of the Week, has increased his offensive production in the month of December. He led Maryland with 26 points in last Sunday's 72-59 victory over Florida Atlantic, his third straight game and his fourth in the last five games with at least 20 points. Vasquez has raised his scoring average from 7.5 points to 15.9 points per game over the past seven games - all of which have had him scoring in double figures (20.7 ppg in his last 7 games, 24.3 ppg in his last 3 games).

  • Vasquez has taken over the team lead in scoring, with his 15.9 ppg scoring average leading four Terrapins in double figures. Landon Milbourne, who had 19 points against Florida Atlantic, has a 13.7 average and is hitting .526 from the floor. Sean Mosley is averaging 14.3 ppg and Eric Hayes is at 12.4 ppg.

  • Through the weekend, Hayes led the Atlantic Coast Conference in 3-point percentage at .482 and led the Terps with 27 treys. Hayes is on his way toward the 1,000-point plateau, needing just 35 points to become the 48th player in school history to hit that mark.

  • Maryland is facing its typically difficult schedule again this season. In this week's Associated Press poll, there were three Maryland opponents in the Top 9, six in the Top 23 and 12 received votes in this week's balloting. That list includes tonight's opponent, William & Mary.

  • The Terrapins lead the all-time series with William & Mary, 22-8. The teams met last in Cole Field House on 12/27/2001, with Maryland taking a 103-75 victory. Prior to that meeting, the Tribe and Terps had not met since 1985. Maryland has won the last 12 meetings between the schools.

    Scouting the Tribe

  • The Tribe comes into the matchup on an eight-game winning streak after its 70-68 victory over defending Big South Conference champion Radford. William & Mary is 8-2, with one of the losses coming to 12th-ranked Connecticut and the other being a triple-overtime defeat at Harvard. One of the Tribe's victories in the streak is a 78-68 victory at Wake Forest on 11/28. W&M has beaten VCU to open play in the Colonial Athletic Conference this season at 1-0.

  • Senior guard David Schneider is William and Mary's leading scorer so far, averaging 17.3 points per game. He also leads the Tribe with 31 3-pointers. He is second on the team in rebounding at 6.3 boards per game. Quinn McDowell, a sophomore swingman, is at 14.8 ppg and is shooting well thus far, hitting 55 percent from the floor and 45 percent behind the arc.

  • Senior forward Danny Sumner is at 12.7 points per game and 6-foot-9 junior forward Marcus Kitts leads with a 6.5 rebounds per game average. The Tribe is averaging 11.1 3-pointers per game as a team.
