Seminole Intercollegiate Final Results
For a third straight day, Chris Gold tamed the Golden Eagle Country Club and finished with an even-par round of 72, good for a sixth-place tie overall. Gold's play helped Maryland finish in 11th place as a team.
Gold, who finished as the only player in the tournament without a round over par, finished just three strokes back of top finisher Ryan Haselden of Vanderbilt, who was powered by a first-round 67.
Maryland's next-best finisher was freshman John Popeck, playing in his first collegiate spring tournament. Popeck, whose round of 73 on Sunday was the best by a Terrapin other than Gold on the weekend, finished with a cumulative score of 10-over par 226. That left him in a tie for 43rd place.
Donnie Shin, who shot a 77 on Sunday, finished 55th overall. Meanwhile, Andrew Kay had his best round of the weekend, as a 3-over par 75 left him 18 strokes over for the weekend, good for a 56th place tie.
Maryland now will enjoy two weeks off before its next competition, the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. That event will be played at Awendaw, S.C.
