SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. -
Brendan Tracy, a rising senior for the Maryland men's golf team, was among the sectional qualifiers recently for the Metropolitan Golf Association's Ike Championship.
Tracy shot a 1-over-par 71 at the Southampton Golf Club to tie for third in an 88-player field. Qualifying spots went to the low nine players plus ties, with the qualifying score ending up at 73.
Tracy had four birdies along the way and carded nines of 35-36.
The Ike Championship is one of the oldest and most prestigious amateur tournaments in the East. The 54-hole stroke-play event will be held June 30 and July 1 at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y. The Ike field, made up of more than 100 players, will be cut after 18 holes.
