Day One Tournament Results
BEALLSVILLE, Md. -
After 18 holes of golf during the opening round of the 2010 Hoya Invitational in Beallsville, Md., the Maryland women's golf team sits tied for second place with Yale University. The Terps recorded a 308, just five strokes behind the leader, Nova Southeastern.
Sophomore Jessica Hollandsworth leads the Terps with a second place finish on Day One after carding a one-over-par 73. She shaved three strokes off her score on the back nine and is just one stroke behind the current leader, Sandra Changkija of Nova SE.
Two other Terrapins are positioned in the top-20. Freshman Christine Shimel is tied for ninth after registering a 77 and freshman Hayley Brown is tied for 16th with a 78. Maryland's Kerri Connolly and Carly Hunt are tied for 31st and 33rd, respectively.
Tournament play was cut short today due to poor weather conditions. Teams will conclude the Invitational with 18 holes tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m. ET.
For the third straight year, the Hoya Invitational takes place at The Members Club at Four Streams. The course is played as a par 72 through approximately 6,100 yards.
Seventeen teams make up the field.
