Kiani Profit broke a 25-year-old school record in the heptathlon this weekend, earning second place with 5,686 points. Profit's performance crushed her previous career-best of 5,276 set at last year's Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Championships. Clemson's Liane Weber set a conference and facility record by winning the heptathlon with 5,928 points.
In the second day of the seven-event competition, Profit took first place in the 800, second in the long jump and sixth in the javelin throw. Profit's 800 time of 2:11.91 is her personal-best and ninth all-time at Maryland. The star junior earned All-ACC accolades in her second straight conference championship. Profit also qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 400 with her preliminary mark of 54.68.
Moriah Young continued her success in the throws this season, earning fifth place in the shot put. Her throw of 47-0.25 is the best of the freshman's career and puts her sixth on Maryland's all-time list.
On the men's side, senior Greg Kelsey took fourth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a mark of 9:04.46. Junior Greg Jubb qualified for the finals in the 1,500 with a mark of 3:51.85 in preliminary competition.

Profit broke Linda Spenst's school record of 5,594 points in the heptathlon set in 1984. Profit's javelin throw of 112-06 is her personal-best. Profit recorded a long jump of 19-0.
