The University of Maryland track and field program kicked off the 2010 NCAA East Preliminary Round with a trio of student-athletes participating in the long jump on Thursday.
Senior Tiffani Long earned 22nd place with a jump of 19-07.50. Junior Kiani Profit jumped 18-11.25, while sophomore Ashley Hendrix jumped 0.75 inches shorter at 18-10.50. The two student-athletes earned 39th and 42nd place, respectively. None of their marks were in the top 16, so they will not advance to the final round.
The three-day contest continues at North Carolina A&T's Aggie Stadium tomorrow and culminates on Saturday, May 29. Senior Greg Kelsey will represent Maryland in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday evening, May 28.
