POSITION TITLE: Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance

DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics

CATEGORY: Full-time, Exempt (111820)

UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports (approximately 750 student-athletes) and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance will assist the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance with the overall operations of the Athletics Compliance Office. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordination of day-to-day compliance activities; serve as liaison with multiple offices on campus, as well as with the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA for legislative/rules interpretations; provide legislative and interpretive guidelines for institution; assist with the department's rules education program; prepare required waivers and appeals; monitor and oversee the Compliance Office's full-time internship position, awards and benefits, financial aid; assist in investigating and processing rule violations; prepare grant-in-aids and National Letter of Intents; attend NCAA and ACC conferences; and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, post-graduate degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years compliance experience in intercollegiate athletics at a Division I institution, conference office or national office. Ideal candidate will have strong computer knowledge including experience with Compliance Assistant (CA), the NCAA Eligibility Center, and Legislative Services Database (LSDBi). Must possess and have demonstrated experience with the ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with diverse groups - students, parents, coaches, and administrators in a professional demeanor.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
