Final Stats

DURHAM, N.C. - The Maryland volleyball team won the first set against Duke Saturday night, but the Blue Devils responded and won the next three to defeat the Terps, 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16).

Freshman Ashleigh Crutcher tallied her team-high seventh double-double of the season finishing with 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior Caitlin Adams converted a season-high 57 percent of her attack opportunities to finish with 12 kills in the loss.

The Terps and Blue Devils combined for 11 ties and lead changes in the first set. After Duke cut the Maryland lead to one at 20-19, Adams sparked a three-point run with a kill which gave the Terps set point. After a Maryland service error, Adams tallied her seventh kill of the set to clinch the frame for Maryland.

Duke jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the second set, but the Terrapins scored seven of the next eight points capped by a kill from freshman Catie Coyle to take the lead. Following a kill from Crutcher, the Terps led 23-20. However, the Blue Devils scored five points in a row to take the set.

The third set started the same way the second set started. Duke scored eight of the first 11 points and led by as much as six at 11-6. The Terps battled back to cut the lead to one at 12-11 following a block by Coyle and freshman Carlisle Abele. The Blue Devils scored four of the next five points and did not relinquish the lead winning the third set, 25-20.

The fourth set was tied at eight when Duke scored the next six points to take control of the frame, and win the set 25-16.
