Senior Joey Rice carded a 2-under 70 in the final round of The Invitational at The Ocean Course Tuesday to finish tied for sixth with a 215 (75-70-70). Maryland finished fourth with an 871 (294-286-291), the Terps first top-five finish of the season.
Rice's three-round total is his lowest of the season, and the sixth-place finish is his first top-10 finish of the fall. Freshman Jordan Sweet joined Rice in the top-10. The Bowie, Md., achieved his first top-10 finish by carding a 216 (72-71-73) to earn a seventh-place tie.
Senior Sean Brannan and sophomore Will Wiseman tied for 15th and 18th, respectively. Brannan finished with a 220 (72-72-76), while Wiseman tallied a 222 (75-73-74), his lowest 54-hole score of the fall.
Sophomore Sean Bosdosh bounced back from a tough opening day to fire a 2-over 74 in the third round to finish tied for 39th with a 227 (77-76-74). Freshman Ben Warnquist finished 63rd with a 238 (77-80-81).
Florida won The Invitational by 11 strokes over UAB. The Gators carded an 858 (291-276-291). UAB's Sam Love caught Florida's Tyler McCumber to win the individual championship. Love shot a 209 (70-69-70).
Maryland will conclude the fall season Sunday at the ODU/OBX Collegiate Invitational in Powells Point, N.C.
