Terrapin Sports Marketing, the exclusive marketing and multi-media rights partner of University of Maryland Athletics and a division of CBS Collegiate Sports Properties, is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Director of Sales in College Park, MD.
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to identify and close new sponsorship business as well as train, manage and motivate sales staff on behalf of Terrapin Sports Marketing at University of Maryland.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report directly to the General Manager, Terrapin Sports Marketing
- Develop and execute a sales plan to meet and/or exceed assigned annual revenue targets.
- Train, manage and motivate Terrapin Sports Marketing staff.
- Identify potential sponsors for Terrapin Sports Marketing
- Lead person for all major clients
- Prospecting, developing and closing new business
- Develop key marketing objectives with clients
- Entertain and cultivate sponsors in various settings
- Responsible for preparing high level sales platforms and presentation materials
- Be available for game day Saturdays, evening athletic events and coach's shows.
- Be available to travel for client presentations
- Represent CBS Collegiate Sports Properties, Terrapin Sports Marketing and the University of Maryland in a professional manner.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Supports and exhibits behavior consistent with the sales and service philosophy of Terrapin Sports Marketing and CBS Collegiate Sports Properties, Inc.
- Acts with diplomacy as a representative of Terrapin Sports Marketing and CBS Collegiate Sports Properties and the University.
- Performs other related duties as required
- This position is an outside sales assignment. The Director of Sales will be expected to report to the office daily, but spend the majority of each day in the field presenting and selling Terrapin Sports Marketing inventory to potential sponsors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA or BS degree required
- Five (5) years proven sales experience in sport sponsorship or media fields.
- Knowledge of Baltimore and Washington, D.C. marketplace a plus
- Outstanding communication skills are essential for interactions with clients, operational leaders and other senior executives
- Demonstrated professional sales presentation skills.
- Must show proof of automobile insurance with $100,000/$300,000 policy limits.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Compensation includes a salary plus commission based on performance plus company benefits.
