COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland softball team will head to Blacksburg, Va. this weekend for a three-game series at Virginia Tech. They will play a noon doubleheader Saturday and a 1 p.m. single game Sunday.
Live stats will be available for all three games.
The Terrapins (34-14, 8-5 ACC) took a midweek doubleheader over Delaware State Wednesday. They beat the Hornets 13-0 in five innings in game one and 3-1 in the second game.
The Hokies' (34-16, 9-9 ACC) game Wednesday against Longwood was suspended in the fourth inning due to weather. They will resume play Thursday night.
Terrapin senior Kerry Hickey was named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week Tuesday for her work last week. She threw her 11th career no-hitter Saturday at Florida State and allowed just seven hits in 17.0 innings over the entire week.
In a three-game series with Virginia Tech in College Park last year, Hickey notched her 10th career no-hitter. The Terrapins took two of three from the Hokies last year and own the all-time series 14-11.
Maryland pitching coach Angela Tincher played at Virginia Tech from 2004-08. In 2008, she was named USA Softball's Player of the Year and led the Hokies to their first-ever College World Series. She was also named ACC Player of the Year three times in her career.
After this weekend's games, the Terrapins will close out the regular season with a three-game series with North Carolina next weekend in College Park. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, May 8 at 1 p.m. as well.
