COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terps (40-18) beat Lehigh (33-23) 11-0 in five innings Saturday afternoon to move on to play East Carolina at 5 p.m. at Robert E. Taylor Stadium. The winner of tonight's game will play Baylor Sunday at noon.

Maryland had a season-high 15 hits, with two hits coming from six players and nine total players notching at least a hit.

The Terrapins took an early 3-0 lead with a two-out bases loaded single by sophomore Nikki Maier to score junior Bree Hanafin from third. Two more runs came in when the next batter, junior Kathy McLaughlin, reached on a Lehigh error.

They added a three more runs in the top of the second. Hanafin started the scoring when she scored junior Vangie Galindo from second with a two out single to right. Senior Marisha Branson scored Hanafin for the fifth run with a chopper to second, then Maier scored the sixth run with a single to center.

Sophomore Sara Acosta scored McLaughlin as the seventh run with a base hit up the middle in the top of the third. Senior Kerry Hickey added the eighth run with a solo home run to deep centerfield in the top of the fourth.

Maryland added three more runs in the top of the fifth. McLaughlin scored on a Lehigh passed ball, then freshman Candice Beards tripled to the left corner to score runs 10 and 11 for the Terps.

Junior Kendra Knight pitched the first three innings of the first game, allowing just two hits, no runs and notching seven strikeouts. Freshman Ashley Czechner came on to pitch in the bottom of the fourth.
