Day 1 Results
MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. -
Freshman Jordan Sweet continued his strong play to open the fall season Monday at the VCU Shootout at Hermitage Country Club by carding a 1-under 143 (71-72) to finish the day tied for 18th. Maryland sits in 10th place with a 579 (294-285).
Sweet is looking for his second consecutive top-15 finish after his 12th place performance at the Maryland Intercollegiate two weeks ago. Sophomore Sean Bosdosh is right behind Sweet. Bosdosh fired an even-par 144 (72-72) and is tied for 28th.
Senior Joey Rice rebounded from an opening round 80 to card a 4-under 68 in the second round to finish tied for 60th. Senior Sean Brannan and freshman Ben Warnquist rounded out the Terps group. Brannan shot a 149 (76-73) to finish tied for 64th and Warnquist finished tied for 86th after carding a 155 (75-80).
The third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Virginia is the team leader after two rounds with a 559 (286-273). Virginia Tech is a close second trailing the Cavaliers by one stroke. Iowa State's Scott Fernandez is the individual leader with a 135 (66-69).
