COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Alex Lee was selected by FC Dallas in the first round of the Major League Soccer supplemental draft Tuesday.
FC Dallas picked up the Rockville, Md., product with the 11th pick of the four-round supplemental draft. Lee spent his final three seasons in the back line after playing in the attack for the national champion Terrapins as a freshman.
"We are thrilled for Alex and know he will do whatever it takes to succeed at the next level," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "Alex was forced to overcome a great deal of adversity following his accident in 2009 and to see him be selected today in the MLS supplemental draft is a tribute to his resiliency in life and dedication to the game of soccer."
Fellow senior captain Casey Townsend was selected fifth overall by Chivas USA in the MLS SuperDraft last Thursday.
