Feb. 20, 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Maryland men's soccer team placed three student-athletes on the 2011 All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer team, the league announced Monday.

Junior Taylor Kemp (business) and sophomores Helge Leikvang (business) and Patrick Mullins (American studies) were named to this year's list.

Kemp, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., played an integral role in Maryland's nationally-ranked defense which allowed a mere 1.05 goals per game with eight shutouts. Kemp started in all 21 games en route to second team All-ACC honors.

Leikvang helped Maryland in the midfield and as a defender in 2011. The sophomore from Oslo, Norway, scored a goal in Maryland's win against Stanford and tallied an assist against West Virginia in the NCAA tournament.

Mullins excelled in his first season as a striker, tallying six goals and three assists. The New Orleans, La., product was an All-ACC second team selection in 2011.
