NEW LONDON, N.C. - The Maryland men's golf team travels to the par-72, 7,102-yard Old North State Club this weekend for the ACC Championships. The 54-hole tournament begins Friday, April 20 at 8:30 a.m., and concludes Sunday, April 22.

The Terps
Maryland has five top-10 finishes and nine top-20 finishes this year highlighted by its fourth-place finish at The Invitational at the Kiawah Island Ocean Course in October.

Sophomore Sean Bosdosh has played in all four events this spring and is averaging a team-best 74.75 per 18 holes with an 18-hole low of 71. The Clarksburg, Md., native is tied for 33rd in the conference in scoring.

Senior Sean Brannan is second on the team in scoring with a 74.89 average. It is Brannan's second appearance at the ACC Tournament. Last year, Brannan tied for 42nd with a 226 (79-72-75).

Making his third appearance at the event is senior Joey Rice. Rice is fourth on the team in scoring with a 76.33 average. In 2010, Rice tied for 27th with a 3-over 219.

Freshmen Jordan Sweet and Ben Warnquist are expected to make their ACC Tournament debuts at Old North State Club. Sweet led the team in scoring in the fall and recorded one top-10 finish and three top-10 finishes.

Maryland at the ACC Championships
The Terps best finish at the event came in 1964 when they tied for the league crown with South Carolina at Forest Lakes Country Club in Columbia, S.C. Vern Novak carded an even-par (144) to tie with Wake Forest's Dennis Milne for the individual title.

Including Novak, three Terps have won individual titles. Deane Beman was the first in 1960 and Paul Quinn followed a year later.

In 2006, Maryland finished with its low 54-hole round. The Terps finished with a 1-over 865 at the Old North State Club.

Roger Simpkins holds the Terps 18-hole low with a 67. Simpkins fired a 67 in the second round of the 1976 ACC Championships at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh, N.C.

Noteworthy
Old North State Club will again be the site of the ACC Men's Golf Championship...this will be the 16th time Old North State has hosted, and the 11th consecutive time... In 2011, Georgia Tech claimed its third consecutive ACC title with a record team low score of 33-under par 831.... Georgia Tech's Paul Haley claimed medalist honors with a 10-under par 206.... Florida State claimed it first ACC Championship in 2008...Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech tied for the 2007 championship, marking the second consecutive year that the ACC produced co-champions (North Carolina and Georgia Tech, 2006)... 2007 was Virginia Tech's first ACC Men's Golf Championship... Duke captured the 2005 ACC title, its first since 1966... Clemson captured back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004... Maryland claimed co-champion honors in 1964, while NC State was a co-champion in 1990... Virginia placed second in 2010 and 1996 and tied for second in 1958 with North Carolina... Boston College's low individual scorer for the ACC Championship is Bob Reed who tied for 15th individually in 2007... Wake Forest boasts the most league titles with 18... In the first ACC Championship held in 1954 at Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, Duke earned team honors while Wake Forest's Arnold Palmer captured individual honors.
