CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Maryland softball team outhit Boston College 12-2 to run rule the Eagles 11-0 in five innings Sunday. The Terps (32-18, 8-7 ACC) clinched their third straight ACC series win and second league sweep of the season.

Senior Vangie Galindo outhit the Eagles herself with three on the day, while senior Kathy McLaughlin and sophomore Amanda McCann each had two.

Senior Kendra Knight pitched all 5.0 innings for the Terrapins and allowed just two hits and picked up five strikeouts.

Maryland got its first two runs in the top of the first off of an RBI base hit by Candice Beards down the right field line. They added three more in the top of the second. McLaughlin hit a single to right to plate one, then Shannon Bustillos doubled to right center to make it 5-0 Terps.

In the top of the fourth, Melissa Mancuso doubled to lead off, then scored off an RBI single by Galindo.

The Terrapin offense exploded for five runs in the top of the fifth. They scored the first off an Eagles error, then McLaughlin drove in another with a single to right. Galindo added another run with another base hit, and Nikki Maier drove in the last two with a single up the middle.

Next, the Terrapins will close the regular season with a three-game series at home vs. No. 17 Florida State May 5-6. They will play a doubleheader May 5 at 1 p.m. and a single game May 6 at noon.
