Terps Tied for Second After Opening Round

WALLACE, N.C. - Freshman Jordan Sweet tied a career-low 68 in the opening round and senior Joey Rice carded a season-low 71 Friday to lead the Maryland men's golf team to a season-low 286 in the first round at the River Landing Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,904-yard River Landing Golf Course. Maryland continues the second round Saturday tied for second with NC State and three strokes behind first place Liberty.

Sweet is tied for first with Liberty's Robert Karlsson. The Bowie, Md., native also fired a 68 in the second round of Maryland Intercollegiate to open the year. Rice is tied for fifth and three strokes off the pace.

Sophomore Sean Bosdosh is tied for 14th after shooting an even-par 72. Bosdosh's 72 is one stroke shy of his season low.

Senior Sean Brannan fired a 3-over 75 to tie for 42nd and freshman Ben Warnquist is tied for 49th after carding a 4-over 76.

Due to inclement weather, the first two rounds were unable to be completed. The second round will continue Saturday morning.
