WALLACE, N.C. -
Four Terps tallied season lows Saturday to lead the Maryland men's golf team to an eighth place finish at the River Landing Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,904-yard River Landing Golf Course. Led by freshman Jordan Sweet, the Terps scored a season-low 878 (286-298-294) and led all teams in par-3 scoring (2.92, -5).
Inclement weather forced completion of the second round on Saturday. But the modified schedule did not faze Sweet, who led the tournament in par-3 scoring (2.58, -5) and tallied an even-par 72 in the final round to finish tied 19th with a season-best 216 (68-76-72).
Sophomore Sean Bosdosh and senior Joey Rice completed the trio of Terps in the top 40. Bosdosh completed the tournament with a season-low 219 (72-73-74) to tie for 30th, and Rice tied for 35th with a season-low 220 (71-74-75).
Senior Sean Brannan tallied the second-lowest round on the team Saturday. Brannan carded a 1-over 73 in the final round to tie for 48th with a season-best tying 224 (75-76-73).
Freshman Ben Warnquist tied for 60th with a 228 (76-75-77).
Liberty won the team title with an 846 (283-285-278). Duke's Brinson Paolini defeated the field with a 208 (73-69-66).
