CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three seniors on the Maryland softball team were named to the All-ACC Team, released Thursday by the league office. Vangie Galindo and Kathy McLaughlin earned First Team honors, while pitcher Kendra Knight was named to the Second Team.

Galindo, who was also named to the First Team in 2011, led the league in hits with her 64 on the year. Her .374 batting average on the year was third-best in the league. Last weekend, Galindo became Maryland's all-time hits leader with 220 in her career. She owns Maryland records in career stolen bases, most hits in a season and best batting average in a season. Her .344 career batting average is currently No. 1 in school history.

This is McLaughlin's first All-ACC honor. She hit .379 in all games and .460 in conference play on the year - both of which led the league. She increased her batting average drastically this year from her .244 last season. She finished third in the conference in hits with 58 on the year.

This is also Knight's first All-ACC honor of her career. She became the Terrapins' workhorse this season, pitching 249.0 innings of their 345.0 played. The Terps have won 14 of their last 16 games and in that stretch, Knight has pitched 102.2 innings and batters have hit just .139 against her. She has 292 strikeouts this season - a new record for a Maryland pitcher in a single season. Her 773 career strikeouts are No. 2 in the Maryland record books.

The Terrapins (34-19, 10-8 ACC) will head to Chapel Hill, N.C. this week for its 18th appearance in the ACC Tournament. The fourth-seeded Terrapins will take on fifth-seeded Virginia Tech (38-18, 12-8) Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at North Carolina's Anderson Softball Stadium. Thursday's game will be shown live online for free at ESPN3.com and GameTracker live stats will be available.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to take on either top-seeded North Carolina or eighth-seeded Boston College Friday at 3:30 p.m. That game will be shown online at ESPN3 and on RSN, which includes Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports South, Fox Sports Florida among others.
