#12 Terps Down Syracuse on the Road Saturday

SYRACUSE, NY – Junior Dan Metzger scored the lone goal as the No. 12 Maryland men's soccer team shut out Syracuse 1-0 on the road Saturday night.

Metzger tallied his second goal of the season in the 56th minute to give the Terps' (8-3-5, 5-1-3 ACC) their second win in a row. Maryland also recorded its second consecutive shutout after blanking Drexel on Tuesday.

After a 0-0 first half, Metzger found the back of the net 10 minutes into the second period. His blast from 20 yards from Sunny Jane provided the Terps with the lone offense they needed for the night.

The Terps outshout Syracuse 8-7.  It was the first meeting between the two programs and the last in the regular season as members of the ACC. Zack Steffen picked up one save for his eighth win of the year.
"I am very happy with the effort defensively to get the shutout on the road in ACC play," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "It shows our continued growth defensively. We found a way to grind out a win and it feels good that we won on a great goal from Metzger."

Maryland closes the home slate with a match against NC State Friday night on Senior Night at Ludwig. First kick is tabbed for 7 p.m.
