On Mesa: Another locally acclaimed player, coming to the university from Montgomery County … should see time for the Terps as an attacking back or midfielder … expected to fit into the Terps' system well and improve quickly ... attended high school with current Terp teammate Laura Blongiewicz.

Before Maryland: A three-sport athlete at Quince Orchard as a member of the field hockey, basketball and softball teams … an All-Met selection in field hockey by the Washington Post following her senior season … earned team MVP honors of both her field hockey and softball squads … was honored with Quince Orchard's Athletic Director's Award in 2002 … a member of the Steve Simpson-coached Washington Wolves club team.

Personal: Born Nov. 1, 1984 … Rachel is the daughter of Guadalupe Mesa and Paul Nash … has one brothers, Ron (26) … a letters and sciences major.
