On Rappolt: An emotional leader who begins her fourth season as one of six seniors of the 2000 team … started every game (22) during Maryland's 1998 ACC championship season and has played in 61 games during her career … a hard working player who plays many roles on the field.
As a junior in 1999:Played in 21 of Maryland's 25 games including the Terps' NCAA championship clinching victory over Michigan (Nov. 21) … scored one goal on the season, against Delaware (Sept. 21), and recorded her first career assist, against Georgetown (Sept. 18) … her three total points nearly matched her career-high of four which she totaled as a sophomore during the 1998 season … earned playing time in Maryland's quarterfinal round NCAA Tournament victory over Lafayette (Nov. 13) … helped Maryland win the ACC regular season championship with a perfect 4-0 record as she earned playing time in all four conference games … inserted as Maryland's goalie against Delaware (Sept. 21) and did not allow a goal in four minutes of playing time … her position against the Fightin' Blue Hens was that of a roving defender/goalie … while she was not restricted to the goal, she played with a mask and was the only player allowed to touch the ball with her hand while inside the circle … was a field player in the game against Delaware and took one shot … played the final four minutes of the game against Delaware in the goal.
As a sophomore in 1998: Started all 22 games … was one of seven players to start all 22 games during the season as Maryland won the ACC championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament … scored her first career goal against Delaware (Sept. 22) … also scored a goal against Bucknell (Oct. 13) … totaled a career-high four points in the scoring column … finished second on the team with two defensive saves.
As a redshirt freshman in 1997: Saw action in 18 games and started twice … first career start came against Bucknell (Aug. 31) and also started against Georgetown (Sept. 10) in the first round of the Terrapin Invitational.
As a freshman in 1996: A redshirt season.
Before Maryland: A three-time all-conference selection at The Tower Hill School ... named all-state her senior year ... Tower Hill won the state championship her sophomore season … a member of the Chesapeake Under-19 Futures team her junior and senior years.
Personal: Born Feb. 16, 1978 … Sarah is the daughter of Pam and Bill Rappolt … earned a UM community service and an ACC community service award for excellence in the area of public service to the community at the President's Cup Banquet in April, 2000 … majoring in psychology.
