As a Junior: Consensus second-team All-American and all-ACC first team selection … Averaged a team-leading 17.0 points and a team-leading 2.8 steals per game … his 95 steals ranks second-best single-season total in school history and is tied for the fourth-best single-season total in ACC history … his 2.8 steals per game ranks as the second-best single-season average in school history and is tied for the seventh-best single-season average in ACC history … the fourth player to lead the Terps and the ACC in steals during the same season … joined Dutch Morley (2.1 spg, 1980), Johnny Rhodes (3.7 spg, 1996; 2.6 spg, 1994; and 2.5 spg, 1995) and Laron Profit (2.7 spg, 1998) as the only Terps to lead the conference in steals … credited with 152 assists which stands as the 10th-best single-season total in school history … dished out a career-high 13 assists against Virginia on Feb. 6 in Cole Field House … his 13 assists against the Cavaliers ranks tied for the third-best single-game effort in school history … coupled his 13 assists with 10 points for one of his two double/double performances during the season … scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds against Creighton in the NCAA Tournament on March 13 for his second career double/double … his 13 rebounds against Creighton ranks tied for the 10th-best single-game individual performance in Maryland's illustrious NCAA Tournament history … scored 579 total points which ranks as the 10th-best single-season total in school history … hit 45 3-point shots which led the team in 1999 and ranked tied for the eighth-best single-season effort in school history … tied the existing school record for single-game field goal accuracy with a nine-for-nine performance against NC State on Jan. 10 in Cole Field House … his perfect day from the field tied, among others, head coach Gary Williams who was a perfect eight-for-eight against South Carolina on Dec. 10, 1966 … burst onto the national collegiate scene with a game-high 24-point, team-high seven-rebound, and game-high four steal performance against then No. 5 Stanford in the first round of the BB&T Classic at MCI Center in Washington, D.C. … scored the game-winning points against the Cardinal as he sank two free throws with 1:22 remaining to give the Terps a 59-57 lead … Francis was brilliant in the first half as he scored 10 points during a 24-6 run which allowed the Terps to take a 39-32 lead … was also a perfect seven-of-seven from the free throw line … Maryland won the game, 62-60 … was again brilliant with a 25-point, six-rebound, five-steal performance against then No. 5 Kentucky in the famed Rupp Arena on Dec. 12 … scored 18 second-half points including eight points in the final five minutes as Maryland closed to within four with 38 seconds remaining after being behind by 17 with 14 minutes remaining in the nationally-televised game … scored a career-high 32 points against Clemson on Feb. 24, 1999 … scored on a career-high tying 11 field goals, a career-high tying four 3-point shots and on a perfect six-of-six free throws against the Tigers … reached the magical 30-point plateau as he scored 31 points against then No. 12 North Carolina in the ACC Tournament semifinals on March 6 … his 31 point total ranks as the fourth-highest scoring total by a Maryland player in the ACC Tournament … scored 19 second half points as he helped the Terps recover from as much as a 23-point deficit and pulled them to within four with under two minutes remaining … averaged 25.3 points in three consecutive games with 22 against then No. 12 North Carolina (Feb. 13), 22 at Georgia Tech (Feb. 21) and 32 against Clemson (Feb. 24).

As a Sophomore: Attended Allegany (Md.) Community College during the 1997-98 season ... named as a first-team NJCAA All-American ... averaged 25.3 points, 8.7 assists, 7.1 rebounds and 5.3 steals this past season ... shot 53 percent from the field and 82 percent (204 of 248) from the free throw line ... established Allegany season school records for points (885), steals (187) and free throws made (204) ... Allegany was ranked No. 2 in the nation for much of his sophomore season ... scored 66 points in two games of the NJCAA tournament, the fourth highest two-game total in the history of the tournament ... .a quadruple-double of 24 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and 10 steals came in an upset over then No. 2 ranked Vincennes (Ind.) on Nov. 16 ... an early-season triple-double of 28 points, 11 assists and 11 steals came as Allegany defeated Dundalk, 116-61 ... helped Allegany close out its first unbeaten regular season as he scored 22 points and added 12 assists to lead the Trojans to a 92-60 victory over Hagerstown on Feb. 21 ... helped Allegany advance to the junior college national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., as he scored 65 points in two District III regional championship games ... scored 24 against Essex Community College and added an incredible 41 points against Champlaign (N.Y.) Community College ... Francis hit seven-of-nine 3-point shots against Champlaign ... hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lead Allegany past DeKalb (S.C.) Community College on Jan. 3 ... scored 23 points, grabbed five rebounds, had five steals and three assists as Allegany defeated DeKalb ... followed his performance against DeKalb with a 22-point, five-rebound, four-assist, four-steal performance against Beaver (Pa.) CC ... scored 34 points against Hagerstown Junior College late in the season ... put on a breathtaking performance against Harford (Md.) Community College as Allegany improved to 24-0 ... scored 20 points, had 10 assists, eight rebounds and four steals as Allegany defeated Harford, 92-45 ... called the "best point guard we've ever had at Allegany and potentially the best player ever here" by Allegany head coach Bob Kirk ... As a Freshman: Attended San Jacinto (Texas) Junior College during the 1996-97 season ... averaged 13.5 points, a team-high 7.1 assists and 6.6 rebounds in leading the Ravens to a 36-1 overall record ... a first team NJCAA All-region IV selection who was also a first team All-Texas/New Mexico Conference team choice ... in the NJCAA tournament he scored 13 points to lead the Ravens past Hutchinson, 60-53, in the first round ... added 13 points to lead San Jacinto past Connors (Okla.) State in the quarterfinals ... led the team to the finals with a stellar performance against Northern Idaho before the Ravens fell to Indian Hills (Iowa) in the championship finals ... San Jacinto ranked No. 2 in the final NJCAA regular season poll behind Allegany (Md.) Community College.

At Blair High School: Did not play during his senior year after the death of his mother, Brenda Wilson, and missed his entire junior season after breaking his ankle at the start of the season ... was a third-string performer as a sophomore ... it was not until after his high school graduation that his stock began to shoot skyward ... played for Team Maryland in the 1996 19-and-under AAU National Championships in Winter Haven Fla ... earned all-tournament honors as he averaged 18 points, seven assists and five rebounds to attract the attention of the junior college world.
