Jason Rodenhaver, the current women's golf head coach at the University of Maryland, will add head-coaching responsibilities for the men's program under a new position as director of intercollegiate golf.

Rodenhaver has been the women's golf coach since its inception in 1999. In those 12 seasons, he has built the team into one of the top programs in the East and in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Maryland has been represented in the NCAA Tournament five times in the past six seasons, including three invitations as a team.

"I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead both the men's and women's golf programs at my alma mater," said Rodenhaver, a 1994 graduate of Maryland. "I want to thank Kevin Anderson and the entire administration for the confidence they have in me.

"This is my dream job, having played and coached here since 1991. I look forward to taking both programs to the next level."

Rodenhaver will get help with the coaching and administration of both programs with the hiring of two new assistant coaches. A national search for those assistants will begin immediately.

"I'm excited about elevating Jason to the director of intercollegiate golf," said Anderson. "No one cares more about the men's and women's golf programs than Jason, having played here, serving as a men's assistant coach for four years and then starting the women's program in 1999 as head coach. I believe this hire will strengthen both the men's and women's programs."

He played three seasons for the Terrapins and led the team to a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championship in 1994. That finish was the best for Maryland since 1978. He was a two-year captain of the men's golf team and participated in the NCAA East Regional in his senior season. He also played at SMU for one season before transferring to Maryland.

Rodenhaver earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology. Most of his family, including his wife, Robyn, are graduates of Maryland. His father is a member of the National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame and was an assistant golf coach with the Terps. He and his wife have a son, Austin, and twins, Gavin and Reese.
