Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Athletic Director and the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Senior Director of Development and Alumni/Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of the Terrapin Club (Director) will serve as the Maryland Athletics' head fundraiser, unit manager and chief strategist. This position has the primary responsibility for raising private philanthropic funds through a wide range of fundraising initiatives and will oversee all aspects of the planning, implementation, and execution of ICA's comprehensive fundraising and alumni relations program. The position is charged with directing all development operations for Maryland Athletics, including the Terrapin Club, major gifts, premium seating, the M Club, planned giving and capital projects as well as raising annual fund dollars to support the university's sports programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, nurturing, and motivating a twelve member internal professional and administrative development team comprised of major gifts officers, fundraisers, special events, donor services, and coordinators responsible for working with multiple sports programs.
The Senior Director of Development and Alumni/Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of the Terrapin Club is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of prospects, and is expected to travel 20-30% of the time. As a leader, the position provides staff support for solicitations in coordination with the AD, Deputy AD, university leadership and leadership volunteers, as necessary and attends meetings with his/her direct reports to assist in working with donors, boards, colleagues, and/or volunteers.
The Senior Associate Athletic Director attends, and may facilitate in areas of expertise, specialized training and development sessions with deans, vice presidents, assistant vice presidents, directors and seasoned and new professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree is required
Master's Degree is preferred
Experience:
• A minimum of 7 - 10 years of demonstrated fundraising experience with proven success in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewarding of six and seven-figure plus gifts is required, preferably at a NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level athletics program.
• Experience in Athletic fundraising in a university environment with an understanding of university culture is highly desired.
• Demonstrated experience as a strong and effective manager and supervisor of staff with a minimum of seven years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated success in managing and motivating fundraisers.
• Success in the design and management of Capital Campaigns.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing donor/student-athlete relationships and related functions.

• Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles is helpful.
• Knowledge of Paciolan Fund Development, web development is preferred.
• Experience in using social media in support of fundraising efforts is required.
