COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland softball team scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past Boston College, 4-2, in the final game of a three-game series Sunday.

Corey Schwartz, who finished 2-for-3, tied the game in the seventh with an RBI double, before Erin Pronobis singled through the right side for the go-ahead run. Kaitlyn Schmeiser issued an outstanding complete game effort from the circle, allowing just two earned runs.

The Terrapins started the game strong, as Amanda McCann and Shannon Bustillos reached base on a walk and hit-by-pitch. Candice Beards then smacked a double to left field to give the Terps a 1-0 advantage.

Boston College answered right back in the home half of the first, however, as Tory Speer scored Nicole D'Argento with a single to right field to square the game, 1-1.

After three scoreless innings from both sides, the Eagles' Annie Sommers broke the deadlock with a solo home run to left center.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh, the Terrapin bats came alive with a Jessica Warner leadoff double to right center. Schwartz then knocked in pinch-runner Bridget Hawvermale with a double to center field. Pronobis scored Schwartz for the go-ahead RBI, while Bustillos added one more double for an insurance run to put Maryland ahead, 4-2.

K. Schmeiser then retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory for Maryland.
