Maryland Hoops Partners with SECU to Benefit UMDCH

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland men's basketball team has partnered with SECU this season for the Points for Pediatrics Program. Throughout the season SECU, Maryland's largest state-chartered financial cooperative, will continue to donate $5 to the University of Maryland Children's Hospital for every point scored by the team.

With 1,385 points tallied so far this season, the Terps offensive talent has translated to a $6,925 donation and counting. The partnership, now in its third season, affords the team the chance to support the community with an action as simple as scoring a basket.

“It's truly an honor for the team and I to have this opportunity to give back and support SECU and the University of Maryland Children's Hospital,” said head coach Mark Turgeon said. “As a coach, I enjoy when my team scores, but to know there is a philanthropic aspect to our on-court success, makes me very proud. The importance for patients to continue to have a top-notch medical facility available is paramount. It is a great cause to be a part of.”

SECU has guaranteed a minimum donation of $10,000 regardless of the total points scored by Maryland this season. In addition, SECU hosted patients, families and doctors from the hospital back on December 13th, at the Terps 67-57 win over USC Upstate.
