The Director of Digital & Social Media will work as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Digital Media & Creative Services staff, and be under the direct supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Digital Media & Creative Services. This individual will serve as the athletic departments digital & social media expert with direct oversight and daily management of our social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat & Periscope. Additional responsibilities include: developing and implementing a comprehensive digital and social media strategy with a key focus on elevating fan engagement, growing our social media communities and enhancing the Maryland Athletics brand; overseeing digital and social media content development, advertising placement and analytics reporting with various external partners; developing and managing our email marketing campaigns including the production and optimization of email content, audience segmentation and targeting, copy writing and QA to ensure flawless execution and cross-platform deliverability; managing our external communication calendar across our marketing, ticketing and development units; overseeing our M Rewards loyalty marketing campaign including website management and daily fulfillment; assisting with fan development and revenue generation initiatives for Football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball & various Olympic Sports; assisting with various other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Digital Media & Creative Services.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required in sports management, marketing, advertising or other related field. A minimum of three (3) years of sports marketing experience required. Must have two (2) years of social media and digital asset management experience including thorough understanding of digital content development and managing social media sites – including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat & Periscope. Proficiency with Pacmail, Adobe Photoshop and all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends. Master's degree preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of sports marketing experience required, preferably at the NCAA division I or professional sports level.
