• Melo Trimble scored a season-high 25 points and freshman Diamond Stone had 16 as No. 6 Maryland took a 20-point lead in the first half and went on to beat Connecticut 76-66 on Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.
• Trimble has been stellar in the Terps' three biggest matchups this season. The Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year scored 24 points against Georgetown, 23 at North Carolina and 25 versus UConn at Madison Square Garden. Trimble went 14-for-15 from the line against the Huskies, becoming only the second player to pick up 15 or more free throw attempts against UConn since 2010. Maryland is 17-1 all-time when Trimble posts seven or more free throw attempts in a game.
• Freshman Diamond Stone is coming on strong as of late. The Milwaukee, Wisc., native has 32 points in his last two contests, registering a career-high 16 points in back-to-back games against Saint Francis and UConn. The center also recorded a career-high nine boards versus the Huskies. Stone came off the bench in both games.
• Junior Damonte Dodd - one of five Maryland natives on the roster - hails from Centreville, Md., located about 85 miles from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus. Averaged 24 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks as a senior (2011-12) at Queen Anne's County High.
• Maryland is the only team in the Big Ten to have five players averaging 10 or more points per game. Melo Trimble (15.6), Robert Carter (13.0), Rasheed Sulaimon (11.1), Jake Layman (10.9) and Diamond Stone (10.6) are all averaging double-figure scoring this season.

• Maryland Eastern Shore is 1-8 heading into its matchup with Maryland with its lone victory coming against Saint Francis (PA). The Hawks fell to No. 1 Michigan State their last time out and have complied a challenging non-conference slate with contests versus Kansas State, Georgetown and Pittsburgh.
• Devin Martin (14.4 ppg) and Dominique Elliott (10.8 ppg) lead the Hawks in scoring. Elliott is also averaging a team-high 6.0 rebounds per contest.
• Maryland leads the all-time series, 16-0, including a 100-68 victory on Dec. 5, 2012 in the last meeting between the two programs.
