Men's Golf Takes Fourth in Big Ten Match Play

PALM COAST, Fla. - The Maryland men's golf team took fourth out of the 14 teams in the Big Ten
Match Play championship this week at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.

After the fourth-seeded Terps beat Rutgers and Northwestern in the first two rounds, the Terrapins fell to top-seeded Illinois, 3-2, in the semifinals Monday. The Terrapins then fell to third-seeded Iowa, 1-1-3, Monday afternoon to take fourth in the event.

"Proud of the way the guys competed this week," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "Our matches with Illinois and Iowa went down to the wire. Both matches could have gone in our favor but they were able to hit the shots and hole the key putts on the closing holes. It's a learning experience for us and one we hope to build on as we continue to build our program to be competitive on the national stage."

Against Illinois, Tom Harris and David Kocher won their head-to-head matches. Harris won his match against Iowa as well, then Ben Warnquist, Connor Tendall and Victor Fox all tied.

The Terrapins will be back in action March 9-10 in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C.
