COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland seniors Amber Melville (high jump) and Thea LaFond (high jump, triple jump) will compete at the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 13-14, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
The pair will be in the high jump competition, which begins Friday at 5 p.m., before LaFond returns in the triple jump on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Melville recently won Maryland's first-ever Big Ten Individual title at the 2015 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships. Melville jumped 6'1.25 to take the high jump. She also earned first-team All-Big Ten honors.
A three-time All-American, Melville has been ranked among the top performers in the country throughout the season.
LaFond nabbed third in the high jump with a mark of 6'0”. The Silver Spring, Md., native took second in the triple jump, third in the long jump and sixth in the 60m hurdles final. Her triple jump mark of 43'5.25 was a season best and she was named to the All-Big Ten second team.
A four-time All-American in three events, LaFond was the top triple jumper in the country early in the season and will be among the favorites in that event. She recently took home Mid-Atlantic Field Athlete of the Year honors from the USTFCCCA.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 13 and 14 starting at 7 p.m. ET. A tape delay of the championship will air March 23 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
