Terps Welcome Penn State, Prepare To Make BTN Debut

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—The Maryland softball team will make its Big Ten Network debut this weekend, as they welcome Penn State to the Maryland Softball Stadium for a three game set.

The Terps are coming off a three game bout with the Illinois Fighting Illini. The team battled, producing from the plate, but ultimately dropping the series. Juli Strange led Maryland offensively, hitting .667 with a 1.000 slugging percentage and .700 on base percentage. The junior added a home run and three RBIs in the series as well. Lindsey Schmeiser smacked three doubles in the series, bringing her season total to 18. She is one away from tying the single season doubles record in program history.

The Terrapins will take the field against Penn State for a three game series against the Nittany Lions. Live stats for all games are provided in the links below. Scouting The Nittany Lions

  • Penn State currently sits at 23-20 on the season and 6-8 in Big Ten play. PSU is 7-9 away from State College and 6-6 at home.
  • The Nittany Lions are coming off a double-header sweep of the Ohio State Buckeyes. PSU won the first game, 7-6, and the second game, 11-6. Kristina Brackpool hit home runs in both games, including a grand slam to help lead PSU to the sweep.
  • PSU is led by Lexi Knief from the plate with a .405 batting average and 11 RBIs. Additionally, Brackpool has seven home runs, 33 RBIs and a .357 batting average. From the circle, Macy Jones leads Penn State, with a 6-2 record and 3.19 ERA.
