RALEIGH, N.C. - The Maryland men's golf team is tied for second after going even on the day in the first round of the Wolfpack Spring Open Saturday. Junior Tom Harris and senior Connor Tendall are both in the top 10 of the standings.
The Terrapins went even as a team with a score of 284 to tie George Mason for second out of the 11-team field.
Harris is currently tied for fourth on the leaderboard after shooting a 68 on the day, which is four-under par. Tendall, who is coming off of a top-10 finish last weekend at Ohio State, is tied for eighth with a 70 on the day.
Sophomore Victor Fox went even in Saturday's first round with a 72. Freshman David Kocher went two-over with a 74 and senior Ben Warnquist shot a 79.
Maryland is competing against 10 other teams including tournament-host NC State,
Columbia, Francis Marion, Temple, Valparaiso, Pennsylvania, George Mason, Dartmouth, Navy and Emory.
Sunday's final round will begin at 9 a.m.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course hosted the 2014 NCAA Men's Regional and will host the 2015 NCAA Women's Regional and the 2018 NCAA Men's Regional. For the purposes of the Wolfpack Spring Open, the golf course will play a par of 72 over 7,284 yards.
