COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman David Kocher of the Maryland men's golf team is set to compete in the NCAA Regionals as an individual competitor beginning Thursday at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Participants will play 18 holes per day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. ET each day. For live stats, please click here.
Kocher will compete against 13 other teams and nine other individuals in California. The low five teams and low individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Finals May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
The teams competing in California are Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Virginia, Georgia, East Tennessee State, Mississippi, San Diego, Idaho, St. Mary's College (CA), Wichita State and Eastern Kentucky.
Individual competitors in the region are Cody Blick (San Jose State), Peter Mikalsen (Denver), George Cunningham (Arizona), Antoine Rozner (UMKC), Chad Merzbacher (Tennessee), Matt Green (Kansas State), Connor Campbell (Loyola Marymount), Hayden Shieh (Santa Clara) and Justin De Los Santos (Cal Poly).
Kocher was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team earlier this monrhg and was also awarded a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Kocher was named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team after finishing tied for third in the Big Ten Championship.
The rookie picked up four top-10 finishes and seven in the top 20 in the Terps' 10 tournaments on the year.
