COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2016-17 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is freshman Destiny Slocum of women's basketball.

Freshman Destiny Slocum of the fifth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (4-0) was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Monday for her first career weekly honor. 

Slocum averaged 14.3 points with 4.7 assists in the Terrapins' three wins on the week. She shot 54.2 percent (13-24) from the field and 50.0 percent (9-18) from outside the arc.

In Sunday's game at Niagara, Slocum led the Terrapins with 25 points off five three-pointers and dished seven assists in the win.
