COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team hosts local foe Howard on Wednesday at 9 p.m. at XFINITY Center.

storylines

• Maryland won its third game this season by one point when it topped Oklahoma State, 71-70, on Saturday night at XFINITY Center the last time out. The Terps also beat Georgetown (76-75) and Kansas State (69-68) by a one-point margin.

• Junior guard Melo Trimble hit two clutch free throws with 9.4 seconds remaining to lift Maryland past Oklahoma State for its eighth win of the year. Trimble and Maryland are now 26-5 in games decided by six points or less the last three seasons. The Terps have won six games this season by six points or less.

• With a game-high six assists against Oklahoma State on Saturday, Trimble cracked the top 20 all-time, passing Albert King (1977-81) and tying Drew Nicholas (1999-03) with 307. With one more made three-point field goal, Trimble (135) will tie Sarunas Jasikevicius (1994-98) for 10th all-time in career three-point FGs.

• The Terps have started the last three seasons on a tear, racking up an 8-1 record in each season through nine games. Maryland was 14-1 to begin the 2014-15 campaign and 15-1 to kick off the 2015-16 season. The Terps are 64-17 over the last two-plus seasons.

• Maryland has overcome three double-digit deficits this season, including a 12-point deficit against Oklahoma Stateon Saturday. The Terps also defeated Towson and Richmond despite being down 13 and 14 points, respectively.

• Adrian Branch will provide analysis for Wednesday's game on ESPNU. Branch - a guard/forward out of DeMatha High School - starred at Maryland from 1981 to 1985 and was an All-ACC second team selection twice. In 1984, Branch led the Terps to the ACC Championship. He is fifth on Maryland's career scoring list (2,017). Branch was
drafted in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls in 1985.
