Box Score COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Skylynne Ellazar and Sarah Calta each knocked two hits, but Maryland dropped the Maryland Invitational finale to Binghamton 9-3.
The Terrapins used four hits to take a 2-0 lead in the third inning. After Destiney Henderson dropped a picturesque bunt, Skylynne Ellazar and Sarah Calta followed with singles. Then, with two outs Kristina Dillard came up clutch with a two out, two RBI single.
Binghamton immediately responded, scoring five runs off four hits in the top of the third.
Hannah Dewey, who pitched a scoreless first three frames, was relieved after allowing four in the fourth.
The Bearcats added three more in the fifth off relief pitcher Brenna Nation.
Madison Martin pitched the last two innings, allowing one run.
A single by Jordan Aughinbaugh in the seventh started a spurt as she was brought home by a Skylynne Ellazar RBI single to cut it to 9-3. That would be the final score.
Maryland will begin Big Ten play next weekend at Ohio State. The three game, conference opening series, will start on Friday at 6:00 p.m. This game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
