Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WASHINGTON DC- Maryland put through seventeen hits for nine runs but dropped two games on Saturday. The Terps fell to Monmouth 11-2 in six innings and George Washington 9-7.

GAME ONE

Hannah Dewey and Kristina Dillard both notched two hits as the Terps fell to Monmouth 11-2 in six innings.

Monmouth wrapped two three run innings in the first and third around a one run second to take a quick 7-0 lead. The Hawks totaled six hits in the first three frames and were assisted by two Terrapin errors in the third.

Maryland grabbed two back in the fourth off four straight hits to start off the inning by Corey Schwartz, Kristina Dillard, and RBI knocks by Jordan Aughinbaugh and Emily Libero to cut the deficit to five.

The Hawks won the game in the sixth inning on a three run walk-off home run by Justene Reyes.

GAME TWO

The offense came out in game two as Maryland totaled ten hits good for seven runs but the Terps fell in a high-scoring affair 9-7.

A Hannah Dewey (3-5 with three RBI's on the day) double in the first inning gave Maryland an early 2-0 advantage, but the Colonials would respond immediately with two in the bottom half.

Maryland and George Washington traded punches again in the second and third innings. The Terrapins retook the lead in the second with a two out rally. After the first two batters were retired, Sarah Calta walked and Kylie Datil singled to put two on. Skylynne Ellazar then pushed Calta home with a RBI single. Hannah Dewey drew a bases loaded walk to take a 4-2 advantage before George Washington responded with two in the bottom of the third to knot the game at four.

Sarah Calta belted her first career triple and Kylie Datil brought her in with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. In the bottom half, George Washington scored four runs on four hits off three Maryland pitchers to take an 8-5 lead.

Madison Martin started the game in the circle going 3.1 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out three. Hannah Dewey pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run.

After the Colonials added one more in the fifth, Skylynne Ellazar brought two Terrapins home with a RBI double in the sixth to cut the deficit in half, 9-7. Maryland couldn't come back in the seventh and fell to GW.

The District Invite will conclude tomorrow with a single game against Columbia at 11:00 a.m. at the Nats Youth Academy.
