Box Score

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State used four runs on nine hits, and a combined effort in the circle to defeat Maryland, 4-0.

Kristina Dillard had another strong showing; going 2-for-3, to move to 5-for-7 on the weekend.

A two run Alyssa VanDerveer home run gave the Nittany Lions an early 2-0 lead.

Penn State used a string of hits in the third and fourth innings to add one run in each.

Hannah Dewey started the game in the circle and went 3.2 innings, allowing four earned runs.

Maryland continuously threatened, getting runners on each and every inning. However, the Terrapins could not get the one timely hit to break through.

The Terrapins had the leadoff batter reach in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings. In the third, Emily Libero cranked an opposite field double. In the fourth, Skylynne Ellazar and Dillard laced back-to-back singles. And in the fifth, Destiney Henderson slapped a single and Libero walked. However, Maryland couldn't plate these runners, leaving seven on base.

Madison Martin relieved Dewey in the fourth inning. The Edmond, Okla. Native threw 2.1 innings of hitless ball, striking out two.

The series between Maryland and Penn State will wrap up tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
