After Maryland loaded the bases but could not score in the first, the Wolverines scored four runs by way of a slew of walks and two timely singles.
Brenna Nation pitched all five innings for Maryland. In the second, the redshirt junior retired the top of the Michigan order in sequence.
The Wolverines added two runs in the third off three hits; and two in the fourth off an inside the park home run.
The Terrapins drew four walks on the evening. Skylynne Ellazar, Hannah Dewey, Kristina Dillard, and Lindsey Schmeiser all drew free bees.
Emma Mires, who pinch ran for Dillard, came home to score for Maryland's lone run off Schwartz's RBI single through the right side in the fourth.
A Kelly Christner sacrifice fly in the fifth inning gave Michigan their ninth run and ended the game.
