Box Score ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Maryland softball team ended its first ever trip to Ann Arbor with an 8-0 loss to the No. 2 Wolverines.
Brenna Nation led Maryland in the circle, throwing 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs.
The Chickamauga, Ga. native kept the Terps in it as the bats were absent. Jordan Aughinbaugh had Maryland's lone knock and added a walk from the plate. The Terrapins had four walks in all; with Kristina Dillard, Sarah Lang, and Lindsey Schmeiser reaching freely.
On her Michigan senior day, Sierra Romero launched a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Wolverines an early 2-0 lead. Nation held Michigan in check after that, just allowing one run over the next three.
The Wolverines scored a run on a Maryland error in the fourth. With the bases loaded and one out, Madison Martin replaced Nation and forced two groundouts to herself to prevent further damage.
Michigan broke through in the fifth, scoring four runs off three hits. Skylynne Ellazar made a nice diving stop to cause a fielders choice and keep the Terps in the game.
A bases loaded Aiden Falk RBI single ended the game for No. 2 Michigan in the sixth as the Terps fell 8-0.
Maryland will have a week of practice before playing their second straight ranked opponent, #24 Minnesota, next weekend in Minneapolis.
