Cowan Named All-Met Sports Player of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Maryland point guard signee Anthony Cowan has been named the Washington Post All-Met Sports Player of the Year for winter sports, the publication announced Friday.

Cowan led St. John's (DC) to its first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championship in 16 years this season and scored 20.6 points per game for the Cadets as a senior.

Cowan led the Cadets to a 71-57 win over national powerhouse DeMatha in the WCAC title game. The Bowie, Md., native made 81 three-pointers and shot .831 from the charity stripe this season.

Sophomore guard Melo Trimble also earned the prestigious honor in 2014.
