"This is Maryland Basketball" Named Finalist for Sports Media Award

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland Athletics Broadcasting and Production Office's video production - “This Is Maryland Basketball” -  has been named a finalist for a 2016 SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Award. The award is given by the Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the Eighth-Annual College Sports Media Awards Ceremony on June 2 at the SVG College Sports Summit in Atlanta. Representing a variety of college athletic and academic departments, as well as professional networks, production companies, and student productions, the finalists are spread across four divisions in a total of 20 categories.

“This is Maryland Basketball” – narrated by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt – highlights the rich history of the Maryland men's basketball program through the use of historical footage of great players, coaches and moments, and transitions to the current team and its success. The video is played in venue just before tip-off of the Maryland men's basketball games, and was produced in-house by Pat Shannon and Angela Robledo, edited by Angela Robledo, written by Doug Dull and narrated by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt. Lauren Taylor in the Maryland Marketing Office also contributed to its creative conception.
