KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Maryland men's golf team moved up four spots to finish third in the final team standings at The Invitational at The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island Tuesday.
After Monday's first and second rounds, the Terrapins sat tied for seventh as a team with a score of 571 (290-281), which was -5 overall. They moved up to third out of 16 teams competing Tuesday and finished -5 overall with a combined score of 859 (290-281-288).
"This was a solid start to begin the year," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "Our guys collectively had great summers. They came back to campus ready to go. We have a short turnaround as we head to VCU next week. Hopefully, we can continue to play well.
Sophomore Justin Feldman led the Terrapins with his two-under score of 214 (73-70-71) on the event. He finished tied for 11th on the leaderboard - his highest collegiate career finish.
Freshman Peter Knade tied for 15th with his score of 215 (71-69-75) and was -1 overall in his collegiate debut. Junior David Kocher went even on the event with a 216 (72-72-72) and tied for 19th.
Sophomore Timothy Colanta went +1 overall and earned a 217 (74-70-73). He tied for 25th in the standings. Junior Joe Brooks went six-over with a combined score of 222 (75-75-72).
Next, the Terrapins will compete in VCU's Janney Invitational at The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond Sept. 19-20.
