Jackson Named B1G Co-Freshman of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland freshman forward Justin Jackson has been named Big Ten Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Jackson scored 12 points and added a team-high nine rebounds as Maryland remained perfect on the road with a win at Iowa on Thursday. He added four assists, two blocks and six steals. The six-steal performance was the most for a Terrapin since D.J. Strawberry posted six against Notre Dame in the BB&T Classic on Dec. 3, 2006. Maryland is seeking to post its best start through 20 games since the 1998-99 campaign with a win over Rutgers Tuesday.

Jackson shared the honor with Purdue guard Carsen Edwards.

No. 22 Maryland (17-2, 5-1 B1G) will host Rutgers at 7 p.m. at XFINITY Center on Tuesday.
